Lame speeding ticket rant

Grrrrr. So I'm driving home from my second thanksgiving tonight, on the interstate, cruise set at about 70, which is just slightly faster than the guy in the right lane is going... I've been along side him for nearly a minute, and its just getting old, so as we are heading up a hill I goose it a little just to get by him so I don't have to look over to the right to see where he is... at the top of the rise, in the median pull off is a state trooper. Nailed. 83 in a 65, which I was litterally going for MAYBE a 1/4 mile. *Grumble* Fucking end of month revenue gathering bored Vermont cops *bitch and moan* nothing better to do with their time *grumble* I wasn't even driving like I sometimes do. God damn $175 lame-ass ticket. :P

Be grateful your ticket is so damn cheap, in California they are super expensive, although I've never gotten one, but people always bitch about them because of their high price.

I was out tuning the Targa car one night last august, and I was on a highway with a 70 km/h speed limit. I decided it would be a good time to do a quick pull through third to see how things were running. As soon as I hit the top of third (somewhere around 125-130) a cop comes over the hill in front of me. He's nice and only gives me the $300 ticket.

Ow. Approaching double the posted limit; I suppose I'd feel pretty OK with just a ticket too... but damn those cops always in the wrong place at the wrong time ;P

Oh, he could definitely have nailed me for more $$$, its just the principle of the catch that bugs me. The cruise was still set at 70, I just wanted to zip by that dude to put a little more distance between our vehicles for visibility/safety reasons.

I'll politely point out that the bored State Trooper with nothing better to do with his time was likely hired with speed enforcement as one of his primary functions.

What I do in cases like that where they are keeping pace with you, cause they are not paying attention, is slowly decrease speed and when you have dropped 5mph, suddenly accelerate back to original speed. Works every time.

Remember, there's no quotas for tickets. Nevermind that my buddy the deputy in a large county in Florida tells me that they're given non-quota quotas every month...numbers they need to hit in order to receive good performance reviews. But they're not quotas....

When those moments happen, I always slow down. I let people fly past me. Honestly, better them than me.

That said, on a couple of occasions, I've gootn next to people and blocked somebody behind me for being a douchenozzle.
